KITCHEN TIPS
A well-planned, good quality kitchen will last you for more years, so its essential to establish both your current and future needs at the initial planning stages.

Think carefully about how you and your family use the room before deciding upon layouts and choosing the doors and color schemes.

If you have young children and spend a lot of time in the kitchen you will probably need to plan a multi purpose room, so make it as safe and child friendly as possible:

> Do not opt for low level shelving.
> Ensure that all electrical sockets and leads are out of reach.
> Do not position stools. or tables near ovens, cupboards and drawers.
> If possible, choose appliances with retractable controls.

Remember, that young children around now means that in 10 year's time you'll have teenagers, so you need to make sure that your new kitchen will be versatile enough to adapt. If you have a large kitchen you may want to think about a playroom area for children that could be turned into homework area over the years.

Alternatively, if your children are about to leave home or retirement is approaching, your kitchen may move from being the social hub to place where meals are prepared. So, think about a simple and practical layout, efficient working areas.
